African elephants have the largest home ranges of any land mammal, traveling up to 50 miles a day in search of food and water. In northern Kenya, that means crossing roads, farms, and communities that have expanded significantly over the past few decades. GPS tracking doesn't just help researchers understand elephant behavior. It also alerts rangers when an elephant's movement pattern suggests it may be in danger from poachers.
Each Fahlo Expedition Plush includes a QR code. Scan it with the free Fahlo Animal Tracker app on any Android or Apple device and you'll be connected to a real African elephant to follow across the Kenyan savanna. You'll see the elephant's name, photo, and location updates as it moves. Elephants are tracked via GPS collar that transmits location data via satellite every 30 to 60 minutes. Tracking data may be live, delayed, or historical based on safety protocols set by Fahlo's conservation partners.
The Expedition Plush is made in partnership with Save the Elephants, which has tracked over 900 individual elephants in Kenya since beginning their GPS program. Their data has shaped conservation policy, helped define protected corridors, and directly saved lives through rapid-response alerts when tracked elephants show signs of distress. A portion of every purchase goes to support that work.
African elephants are listed as vulnerable, with populations declining primarily due to ivory poaching and habitat loss. The research and monitoring work funded by the Expedition Plush is among the most direct contributions a single purchase can make to protecting this species in the wild.
