Paul Jacoulet Paul Jacoulet (1902–1960) was born in Paris but moved to Japan in his youth. Studying art with Seiki Kuroda and Takeji Fujishima, he soon fell in love with the country and its artistic traditions. In 1929 Jacoulet made the first of many trips to the South Seas, which inspired him to begin a series of woodblock prints depicting the various peoples of the Asia-Pacific region. Jacoulet spared no expense, using handmade paper and incorporating gold, silver, platinum, mother-of-pearl, mica, and sometimes powdered semiprecious stones into his prints. Today Jacoulet is recognized as a master of traditional Japanese printmaking techniques but one whose nontraditional style was uniquely his own—as seen in this calendar’s twelve exquisite reproductions. All of Pomegranate's calendars are printed with soy-based inks on FSC® certified paper, which means the paper has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council™ and manufactured by an FSC certified printer. FSC certification promotes responsible forest management by ensuring that forestry practices are environmentally responsible, socially equitable, and economically viable. EAN: 9780764963896
